Privacy policy & limitations

Data we store

Outrun fetches public YouTube data through the official YouTube Data API (channel and video metadata, views/likes/comments statistics) and stores it as a shared cache that many accounts can use. The following personal data belongs only to your account and cannot be accessed by others: your monitored channel list, classification corrections, ideas with their research notes, and preferences.

Data retention

Statistical snapshots that are not refreshed are deleted automatically 30 calendar days after capture, per YouTube storage policy. Metric values frozen inside ideas expire on the same schedule — the research notes you write remain yours. Metadata still needed by other accounts keeps updating while monitored.

Your rights over your data

You can download all of your data (JSON format) and permanently delete your account from the Settings page after signing in. Account deletion cleans up your personal data; the shared public video cache still used by other accounts remains.

Metric limitations

  • Outrun does not predict that a video or topic will go viral. Every number is a comparison against historical data.
  • Comparisons happen within the same content group and age range; videos in the same range can still differ in age by a few days.
  • YouTube's view definition can change; when it does, velocity measurement restarts and is flagged explicitly.
  • Data quality (strong/moderate/limited) describes the completeness of evidence, not the chance of success.
